My name is Debora Ann Verburgt. I write this site on my own, from Muskego, Wisconsin.

What this site is

It is a personal opinion blog about taxes, freelance income, record-keeping, and the software that sits between ordinary people and their own numbers. Every essay is published under my own name, with a visible date, and nothing here is ghostwritten or supplied by a third party.

I publish when there is something worth arguing about rather than on a schedule.

What I am not

I am not an accountant, a tax attorney, an enrolled agent, or a licensed financial adviser. I hold no professional credential in this field, and I do not claim any. Nothing I write is advice about your situation, and reading it does not create any professional relationship between us.

I am also not affiliated with any tax authority, any government agency, or any tax preparation or software company. Where a product is named, it is named because I am commenting on it. Nobody pays me to hold an opinion.

How the site is paid for

At the time of writing the site carries no advertising and no affiliate links, and it is not funded by any sponsor. If that changes, ads will be clearly labelled and any affiliate link will be disclosed on the page where it appears, before you click it. The Advertising Disclosure sets out the rules I would hold myself to.

Corrections

I get things wrong. When I do, I fix the text and add a dated note at the foot of the essay saying what was wrong and what changed. I do not correct silently and I do not delete pieces to avoid correcting them. If you spot something, please tell me.
